Really well done, esp. if you like provocateur Michael Moore (which I do wholeheartedly), but so depressing. The part about the Flint water crisis was particularly eye opening. A little scattershot but there's so much to talk about and so little time.
A Very Long Engagement is the 2004 film from the Amelie crew, including director Jean-Pierre Jeunet and actress Audrey Tautou. It concerns a young fiance's search for answers after word gets back her lover has been lost at the front. It elegantly captures the ugliness of World War One's trench warfare, yet is curiously uninvolving after the mystery is solved.
As the movie opens, we see four men being marched along a trench, ankle deep in water as the rain…
Just finished watching the last 2/3rds of "Red", the kinetic, over-the-top, over-the-hill gang action movie, featuring Bruce Willis, John Malkovic, Helen Mirren and Mary-Louise Parker. It was pretty fun although quite ridiculous. It sure seems like they were having a blast making the movie. A couple cool movie tricks (like when Malkovic shot the RPG coming at him, causing a back blast that took out the shooter) raised this up a little. Enjoyable waste of time, I guess.
