This movie did NOT go where I was expecting to go -- although, to be honest, I had no idea where it was going to go. But yes, it's at times hard to watch, but never stops being mesmerizing, especially with that absolutely incredible performance by the lead (as well as the "father"). It's really best not to know anything going on, just that you need to be ready for a very intense ride, yet also filled with emotionally satisfying scenes. A truly novel experience.
