  • Rampage

One of the weirder blockbusters in recent memories. Attempts to communicate an anti poaching message and care about the human casualties of its mass destruction while also being shockingly violent. Scenes and often individual shots feel like they end either a beat too soon or a beat too late. A character is introduced for the sole purpose of a single action scene and is then killed. Jake Lacy plays kinda sorta Donald Trump Jr? This is a strange beast indeed.

Plus, we’re teased a mutant rat on multiple occasions and are never given said mutant rat???

    The Snowman

Probably the worst movie Martin Scorsese has been credited on (that doesn’t involve talking sharks).

  • Pacific Rim: Uprising

    Pacific Rim: Uprising

Remember everything great about the first Pacific Rim? This movie certainly doesn’t!

  • Unsane

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

This has some annoying script and structural issues, but I love the film’s decision to have everything play onscreen without any kind of deception or twist (eg. Some “unreliable narrator reveal”). It’s a thriller where the twist is that there is no twist, showing the idea of a woman being doubted and gaslighting by leading the viewer to question Foy’s POV, only to “reveal” that her trauma is real.

Olivia Cooke is excellent! This movie is kinda dumb!

Siri, show me the absolute last thing I’d ever want to see anthropomorized.

  • Super Mario Bros.

    Super Mario Bros.

Dennis Hopper is fun as G-rated Frank Booth, though.

  • Elves

  • Coco

Gets off the a rough start, but finishes strong enough to recommend. Some georgeous design work.

Also, weird timing for Pixar to release a film about discovering one of your heroes is a scumbag.

  • Justice League

    Justice League

I liked Ezra Miller and the return of the old Batman and Superman themes. Yay?

    I, Tonya

I think the makers of this film might be fans of Goodfellas.

    The Endless

I can't imagine how this would play for someone that hasn't seen RESOLUTION, but this is a genuinely chilling pseudo-sequel.
