Extraordinary in every way.
The film is set in the early 70s but has a timeless feel to it. Aparicio is a true star in the making, the audience always loved her and I felt like we always wanted to protect her very similarly to how we feel with all the women in Cuarón’s films (I.e. Kee in Children of Men, Ryan in Gravity, Luisa in Y Tu Mamá También, etc.).

If I ever have the incredible fortune of working on an Almodóvar film, I will not hold back on expressing my deepest gratitude to him not only for making a film that is representative of my life from the past, the present, and future perspectives, but also for having such courage to share an intimate portrayal of his life with us.
It leaves him in a vulnerable state not many people would be able to withstand. But I'd like thank him now and for the rest of my life because as Salvador says, “El cine me salvó.”
