Heard a dude on the way out of this say, "That wasn't as pretentious as I thought it would be." He is right, but it is pretentious, just goofily so. It's absurdism peppered with bits that would not be too far out of place in a McKay/Ferrell joint. The B&W is just right and they got their money's worth shelling out for Gallo. Nice to see him just let loose and funny it up.
I doubt this represents a trend in New Italian Cinema, but I can hope.
