Dazed and Confused

Dazed and Confused ★★★½

Where Everybody Wants Some!! (2016) explores a singular group on the verge of beginning college life, Dazed and Confused (1993) lets us experience the unification of an entire high school. The films share Linklater’s obsession with masculinity and how it manifests itself in young men and in their hormonal sexuality. Here, we see glimpses of femininity being touched upon as well, yet not even close to the same extent. Dazed and Confused (1993), loved by many, did not thematically or emotionally connect with me the same way Everybody Wants Some!! did, but I appreciated the humor and the group dynamics.
