The film itself is beautifully shot, the score is superbly done, and Kristen Stewart delivers an arresting performance. Pablo Larrain is a good enough director to create tension throughout but Knight's humdrum script is what eventually pulled the film down. It's too loud for me to call it a mood piece but also too thin to call it a humanizing biopic.
