Wonder Woman ★★½

The early sequences here, set on Diana’s home island, set a mythical tone that is quickly squandered. By the end of the film’s first hour, things are unfurling on autopilot, and the only wonder to be found is on Gadot’s face as she takes in the outside world. She is relatively charismatic, as golems go, but she’s partnered with the unformed clay called Chris Pine, so not even a nod toward classic Hollywood romance can make this more than another superhero mediocrity.
