A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III

    ★★★

    Everyone hates this movie.

Now while it'd be quite hip not to just because of that, I frankly had no knowledge of the critical or public opinion on this film.

I quite enjoyed all the over the top banter, ridiculous dialog, and nearly offensive sexist bullshit.

    Thanks, Roman.

  • Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

    ★★★

Haters gonna hate but I happened to enjoy every bit of its cliches, laziness, and stereotypes.

I gotta say though, I'd really like to know Earl. I know nothing about him.

  • A Little Closer

    A Little Closer

    ★★★

"I got a girl. She fucks me any way I like it."

This is such a sad, yet accurate portrayal of so many adolescents and those they have to look up to. We're all deeply flawed and lost - our sexuality and loneliness right in the middle.

It's worth noting that there would be no "Hide Your Smiling Faces" without this film. Carbone's evolution is as visible Petock's in this lovely and completely unpretentious directorial debut.
