Possibly the greatest exposé of the Hollywood machine ever produced by that very same system. Only 40's/50's noir could allow for such iconic, daring cynicism, and a narrative so ahead of its time that it's actually ridiculous. Was Billy Wilder the greatest director ever working within the Hollywood system? I'm beginning to suspect he may have been!
And yes, this one is finally crossed off my "list of shame." Up next: The Apartment
