I still love this movie.
I watched the MoMA 4k restoration on the Criterion Collection blu-ray. It looks great, definitely the cleanest and clearest presentation of the film I've seen. This HD scan was essential.
Yet, I guess I like this movie to look a little crusty. The rough film look of wear and tear works so well for it. I'm not sure when I last saw the movie, it might've been the film screening at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, CA, at a 12-hour horrorthon. The print was damaged, more than what you'd want as source material for a blu-ray release, but damn if I didn't love it. We need digital projection and HD content, but film projection should stick around too.
