    There is a scene here where a crowd of teens eagerly chants Sun Ra’s name before eventually being rewarded with the skronked-out, becostumed free jazz they were all apparently craving. Also kind of functions as a bizarre mash-up of The Seventh Seal and Wild Strawberries with tons of homemade Egyptian iconography props and a spacecraft that resembled a painted gourd. Can’t really ask for much more from a movie.

Within this sliver we get a stifling portrait of narrow lives as restrictively defined as a train car passageway, the typical Lang fatalism but with a more pointedly feminine perspective.
