Lacks any emotional or comedic edge to really show anything more than a generic story and Ferrell's charisma is sorely lacking in his performance.
TPBTP does a fantastic job of really showing how much influence legacy has on real people and does a fantastic job of just showing how these events would effect real people. The film is just a simple story about fathers and sons and is perfect at capturing this sort of theme and feeling and bringing it on the screen with some beautiful cinematography and truly great performances.
Damien Chazelle does it again. La La Land is the most vibrant film I have seen this year. I think what can be undermined in this amazing musical is the fantastic colors. There is just such an amazing palette that really added to the experience. And the camera just flows so well. OH MY! And Emma Stone is amazing along with Gosling being fantastic. And the music is just brilliant.

Patriots Day doesn't feel self reflexive on our society. What it does do is it allows us to cope. It shows us a story about our strength. It doesn't try and challenge the story and it can feel at points that is too early, but it offers a cathartic experience for an event that is barely in our rear view.
