    Turbulent Blue

35mm film spliced down the middle and taped together so it can (sort of) play as a 16mm film. 24 frames a second become 48 bifurcated frames, horizontally bouncing across the screen and through the projector. Violence done to the film echoed by the stunning images of exploding (cop?) cars.

Word is this film broke in a projector and no longer exists.

    Field

Isolates rapid camera movement as strategy for abstraction. Yet rhythmic editing and 18fps projection reveal fleeting moments when objecthood (clarity? narrative?) begins to emerge from a torrential downpour of light waves. A speed race between acts of recording and projection.

    ★½

Endless. Obvious. Spends an inordinate amount of time justifying its Wacky Nature and hammering home its Grand Metaphor, all of which is overwhelmingly evident in the first half hour. Wooooof.
