Gretel and Hansel has some good things going for it. The score by Rob is phenomenal and gives the whole movie a very atmospheric and creepy feel. Sophie Lillis (Gretel) and Alice Krige (Holda) give excellent performances. And for the most part, I was intrigued in the story, at times genuinely on edge. I did not, however, love some particular plot developments in the latter half of the film. Several scenes near the end felt forced and did not really…

I found this movie to be both profoundly moving and incredibly frustrating. The script is wildly uneven and it feels like there needed to be some serious cutting done in the editing room. Well, they kept it going with each scene somehow improving on the last. Aside from the action, the performances from both Theron and Hardy are subtle yet moving. Unlike so many mindless action movies, I legitimately cared what happened to the characters, which made it that much more intense and hard-hitting. Fury Road is utter insanity in the best way possible.

La La Land, a place for dreamers and lovers, optimism and melancholy, beauty and talent. All of these things converge in a dizzying euphoria of musical numbers, conversations, glances, and panoramas that comes together in this beautiful, life-affirming story of two dreamers living in the City of Stars.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone give phenomenal performances, putting everything they have in making the dancing and singing sequences fly off the screen with a buoyant gracefulness. Damien Chazelle struck gold with…
