Jason Huang (黃擎元)’s review published on Letterboxd:
Saw a lot of Letterboxd friends praise this film, so I decided on a whim to purchase some tickets for this. Definitely lives up to the hype. It's such a unique and authentic portrayal of the deaf community, and I love how the sound design put us in the headspace of Ruben. They even automatically caption the film! Riz Ahmed is phenomenal here, and I hope he'll get some awards attention by the end of the year.
I went in blind, so I really expected more drumming based on the poster, but surprisingly it wasn't all that. It's more about Ruben's way of living as a deaf person and his desire to regain his hearing while spending time with a deaf community. Definitely worth checking out when it comes out on Amazon Prime this December.
