Jason Huang (黃擎元)’s review published on Letterboxd:
I feel like every time Hong Kong directors write a crime boss character, they always have Simon Yam in mind. This guy just embodies that role so well.
Feels kind of like an Exiled prequel with a lot of the same characters. The cigarette gag is hilarious in this film. Love the ensemble of characters in this film and the shootouts are cool as hell while still having a lot of weight to it. Truthfully there were a lot of distractions in my house (busy day in the Huang residence) while I was watching this so I feel like that kind of took away from the experience but I loved a lot of this. Will probably love this even more on a re-watch in a quieter setting.
