    I thought Minari would be my only 5-star film of 2020, but The Father just decided to come along and break me. Obviously outstanding performances from Anthony Hopkins, Olivia Colman, and both the Pauls. Florian Zeller's direction and writing (both writing the play and adapting it) are outstanding, the production design is out of this world, the cinematography and editing go very nicely hand in hand, and the score is quietly devastating. No weak aspect to this film.

    There's a moment near the end of Harry and Tonto where Art Carney's Harry is talking to his son Eddiez and says a clichéd "Huh?" after not understanding something Eddie said. This was the first moment since Harry had started trekking through America that I remembered he was in his 70s. As a matter of fact, his journey through the film showcases America in a way I never thought could have been done so perfectly. He meets all these people…
