"There's this lake near where I live and if you fall in, even in the summertime, you have about 30 seconds before you die of hypothermia." Just say Lake Superior. You're in Quebec, I'm sure she'll know what and where Lake Superior is.

Apart from some awkward dialogue and the choice of music for some scenes, this was really good but it definitely is depressing. Sucker punch ending.

What a beautiful, beautiful, little film about love and grief and family.

It's beautifully shot in 1.37:1, each frame feels genuine and intentional. A phenomenal cast of heartbreaking performances. A perfectly suited score.

I really got the impression that a lot of love was poured into the making of this.

Anyway... I nearly cried the whole way through. It's such an emotional story and it's so delicately handled. Shoutout to the TIFF Reel Talk programmers for once again showcasing a film that succeeds in making me cry - it's become a regular occurrence this season.
