yet again I watch a jodorowsky and feel absolutely stumped for words, while simultaneously overcome with thoughts. a complete deconstruction of Spaghetti Western ideologies and filmmaking methods, of godlike egos shifting to humility and occult nightmares where rabbits just randomly die after some guy tripping on peyote shows up. yet amidst all of its coked-up chaos, El Topo manages to carry its own extremely human sense warmth to its subject matter. violence is excessive and hilariously over-the-top, but treated…
