Manchester by the Sea is as real a film has possibly ever felt to me. It's a very slow film, but it keeps your interest the whole way through, building on its unraveling story when you think its said all it has to say. It's an absolute beauty of heart-wrenching storytelling. Affleck is outstanding, Hedges is surprising, Lonergan's direction is top-notch, and his screenplay is simply incredible. Possibly the best film you'll see this year.
