Sound of Metal

Sound of Metal ★★★★½

Sound of Metal wastes no time throwing the audience into the disorientating, harrowing experience of the subtle yet unequivocally traumatizing experience of our protagonist. Unfortunately, the film does lose steam after the opening 30 minutes or so and the remainder of the film can't reach the emotional height of the opening half's gut-punch, but Riz Ahmed gives us what I believe is the best performance I've seen yet in my so very, sadly, limited exposure to the quaint filmography of 2020. I recommend the film entirely.
