Nothing to say that hasn’t been said. I bet WB butchered this movie but I doubt if there was an Ayer cut, it would be that much better. I sorta see what he could be going for in the beginning, it’s almost like a gritty jail exploitation movie with sadistic prison guards and nihilistic criminals, S Craig Zahler stuff, but it’s too neutered to tell. Maybe he was inspired by Escape from New York too? There’s a tiny nugget of an interesting movie in here that you can barely see if you squint. Feel bad for anyone that watched this in a single sitting and didn’t mindlessly skip past scenes because I got the gist of it.
