Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Okay sorry but as a Eurovision purist I have to take this extremely seriously, here we go.

    Big annoying things:

    1. Why did they have to get Americans involved, seriously, this is wrong from the beginning
    2. Why is it all in English, they could have got Icelandic actors who speak in Icelandic, come on
    3. Why does the contest take place in Scotland and yet I think you only hear one (1) Scottish accent the whole time

    Decent things:…

    Tales of the City

Mixed feelings tbh but I loved the original so I had to watch this too. Sometimes it tried too hard and made me cringe, but sometimes it got it right, and those moments still matter a lot, you know? Also Ellen Page's character is the most annoying.

Okay I'm usually very allergic to English period dramas - I know I should give at least some of them a chance - but this one is in a whole other category. Epic and gripping from start to finish.

    Walking and Talking

I saw this in the cinema when it came out and somehow, even though nobody seems to have heard of it, it stuck with me forever. I remember writing an essay about it at uni! The cast, most of all Catherine Keener, just blew me away; I found it such an authentic portrayal of friendships and relationships and loneliness and communication problems. There are all these small understated moments that enhance our understandings of people or add humour to the situation.
