a bit of a truncated viewing due to time constraints
turns out i wasn't quite as far off as yesterday's viewing of man of steel led me to believe; this is undoubtedly a duel of fascists, but the preceding film's unwavering empathy and desperate sense of hope paints clark/kal/sup's failure to do the right thing in a far more tragic light than i had ever realized. the two films chart how, even with the best of intentions, good men don't exist because they cannot exist within structures like our own. the resulting ending remains as perfectly, unintentionally messy as ever... unity, but toward what end? at what cost? between what ideologies?
