“In the Mood for Love” showcased a hopeless love story, that which is lost even before its inception. “2046” portrays the hopeless attempts to overcome the repression of emotions by the repression of identity. Chow’s idealized love for Su, which he lost, lead him into a state in which he can’t stay true to his emotions. So he moves on without looking back only to look back at those who reminds him of his lost love, which ultimately leads to…

This year would mark the 14th year since The Dark Knight came out. After The Dark Knight made a milestone superhero film, another Batman movie has come out that takes the top place along with The Dark Knight to be the best of the genre. Not only that, but The Batman also transcends the genre following Joker and is a pure neo-noir rather than just a superhero movie. This was one of the finest films I was fortunate enough to…

That ending. So simple, so life-like, it keeps you wanting for something more, making you feel like always grasping for what's out of reach. I always want to talk a lot about this film, what makes it great as well as a lot of its flaws but I just get sweeped up in its emotions and could never really form sentences to describe it.

    "Romba dooram poyittiya Ram?"
"Nee enga vitto anga thaa irikkiren."

I thought War was a shitty movie that showed Hrithik in his max swag. So, I expected Pathaan to show SRK in the coolest way possible and forget about the rest of the film. For the most part, it did work as I was so happy to see SRK like this, and to top it John Abraham was also in his best form. I loved how the film didn't really take itself seriously for most of the first half. The…

The backdrop of “Amma Ariyan” takes place in a politically unstable time in Kerala in which leftist political extremism lead to the Naxalite movement, which garnered much support from the common people. The political struggle that occurred at the time led various artists to respond to it through furthering the struggle through art. John Abraham is famous for his nomadic lifestyle and radical nature and has made the film to reflect upon this. The political struggles the group encounters in…

"Monologue" is a film about perceptions or specifically the duality of perceptions. From Adoor's own words Ajayan is both introvert and extrovert at the same time. Duality plays a key role in the film, as a media film itself is dual in nature. We know what we see is fiction, but it's by convincing the viewers into believing in the film it succeeds. The film shows us two stories, both narrated by Ajayan like a monologue. After the first story,…
