Room ★★★★½

Why isn't Jacob Tremblay nominated for Best Actor? That was what I was thinking throughout the entirety of this film. His performance is phenomenal. I can't remember a time where I have been so invested into a performance and the plight of the character and the change they go through during the film. Brie Larson is equally extraordinary and her and Tremblay's perfect chemistry together creates a delightful ambiance in the film that carries the viewer through as they watch 'Room'. As we, the viewer, go on the same journey as the character of Jack throughout the film, you begin to see the world through his eyes, which in turn opens up things about how you first perceived the world and everything around it. One of the most striking images is when Jack sees the cables that run from pylon tower to pylon tower for the first time, which got me to think when was the first time I really understand what they were and why they were everywhere. This is a film that will stick with you for a long time after, and I know already that when I come to rewatch it, it will be just as extraordinary if not more.
