** OUT ON FILM FESTIVAL 2020 : FILM #1 **
Look, I like staring at Henry Golding just as much as everyone else does, but this movie drags.
It manages to cover the surface of every topic it touches and there are no wrap ups at the end. Like the forced emigration stuff was just sprinkled in there so he had a reason to be in Vietnam. Even the tasteful cutaways were painfully tasteful. Super bland.
The vibes and atmosphere we're great and I wish the entire movie had the spark that the last five minutes did.
