How It Feels to (Chew Five Gum: The OG Movie) Be Run Over is the second of the two early major motion picture shorts to be produced by Hepworth, the studio headed by director Cecil Milton Hepworth (golly, how British is that name, by jove), the other being the entertaining though slightly formulaic Explosion of a Motor Car.
Of the two, this is the one I personally prefer, though the two do share a lot in common. Both are centered on a shocking scenario (one an explosion, the other being run down), and both are marked by some snarkily brilliant humour like a true Brit film would do. In the former, the nonchalant police officer and comedic delay, in this the fantastic use of intertitles at the end.
VERDICT; Very similar in style and tone to Hepworth's other notable outing, but this one still takes the edge, if only for the excellent POV shot. Oh, and the sly ending intertitle that tickles my British sensibilities. I really get the feeling that Cecil didn't trust cars.
