I like the idea behind this film, but the execution felt unfocused. I don't expect movies about death to be exciting exactly, but all the scenes still felt unnecessarily drawn out and excruciatingly boring.
That being said, the performances were great, and there was some interesting camerawork as well.
The movie caught me very off guard, and not in a good way. Going into the theater, I thought J-Law's character was supposed to be a spy who seduces men to get what she needs....not a normal person who literally gets trained in the art of touching nipples (rub a man's dick and he gets aroused?!?! YOU DON'T SAY!)
Either they completely forgot to, ya know, explain how a former ballerina gets so good at spying, or they just figured…
A pretentious review for a pretentious movie:
Call Me By Your Name. Call Me By Your Unnecessary Scenes. Call Me By Your Character Inconsistency. Call Me By Your Pacing Issues. Call Me By Your Director Who Wanted A Vacation To Italy. Call Me By Your Statutory Rape. Call Me By Your Peach Fucking.
It's like an alien watched a bunch of Godard movies and 30 episodes of the West Wing and said yeah, I understand how humans interact now!
