    This is perfectly tolerable, but that’s mostly because Uncharted is good source material to draw from. Fleischer is not a good director, and this is very rote. But honestly this could have been much worse. Feels quick, Holland is charismatic enough to carry it from point to point, and it scratches that adventure film itch, if just barely. Visuals are muted to poor.

    Glad a mostly good cast of people I mostly like got paid.

    Still a big fucking yep. Mortensen’s performance took this second view to really appreciate, as well as the beats of humor scattered throughout. The first view it was hard to be anything hut disturbed and intoxicated but this viewing came way with more giddiness and fascination with knowing what’s coming. The story flowed a bit better the second time around but I still have the similar problem with how well some of the undercover stuff is tied in.

    Incredible production values here: the skate choreography in particular is an outstanding highlight. Gorgeous costumes, makeup/hair, production design, score (!!!), cinematography, sound. The two lead performances from Fedor Fedotov and Sofya Priss are outstanding. The story isn’t particularly original but stands well enough on its own despite predictability. Sometimes over-editing gets in the way of the film. Wonderfully directed though. Very fun and enjoyable.

    The first 30 minutes are as splendid as people say, but the rest of the film feels like it underexplores Martha’s grief, leaving it one dimensional, at the expense of Sean’s or Martha’s family members’ issues.
