    The Man Who Invented Christmas

    ★★★½

This film centers on Charles Dickens as he writes his famous A Christmas Carol. I was concerned that this would be a sappy holiday flick that one might encounter on the Lifetime channel. Despite a stoic and dry protagonist and long run time, this crusade film remains an entertaining ride.

    Only the Brave

    ★★★★½

I thought this film was excellent. It superbly establishes is characters and the camaraderie among them. It also delves into the strain of these brave men's occupation had on their family lives. The acting was equally impressive. Being an Arizona resident, I knew what the final outcome was, but that did not make it any less emotional because the movie succeeded in making its audience attached to these characters.
