You know what kind of plan never fails? No plan at all.

Wow. What a masterpiece. I’m glad that I saw this before the Oscars ceremony this evening; I hope that the Academy recognises the brilliance of this film. It’s going straight into my top ten of all time and it might move even higher after a rewatch. Bong Joon-ho is a genius.

Excuse the bad pun, but Parasite is infectious in many regards. It is…

I don't know if there is anything wrong because I don't know how other people are.

Well well well. Paul Thomas Anderson, you have done it again. Working my way through his filmography, all of his films have been very strong indeed, but this is without a doubt my favourite so far. Punch-Drunk Love follows Magnolia in Anderson's lineup, a stark contrast in running time wherein the earlier film is double the runtime. However, the reduced…

An ultimately underwhelming action film that fails to build on its intriguing premise. Instead, this felt like a run of the mill, seen before popcorn flick.

Poor pacing. Inconsistent performances from several overqualified actors. A plot full of contrivances, flaws and conveniencies. Dialogue full of exposition, repetition and unsubtle presentations of what are supposed to be subtexts.

Charlize Theron is largely okay and is somewhat of a saving grace, but her performances are better in the…

We take a look at the 1980 horror classic 'The Shining', but not before discussing what else we've been watching and some news from the industry. Seth Rogen turns himself into a pickle.

scavenger hunt 54 | task 18 (Watch a movie where the protagonist rekindles their relationship with their dad.)

He could only see what was not there... and missed what was right in front of him.

If you think that 2001: A Space Odyssey made use of silence well, then wait until you see Ad Astra. In fact, this movie itself is more of an odyssey than Kubrick's classic - a personal one, sure, but nonetheless a grander one. As director…

scavenger hunt 53 | task 4 (Watch a jazzy movie today.)

I'd rather die drunk, broke at 34 and have people at a dinner table talk about me than live to be rich and sober at 90 and nobody remember who I was.

One of the most brutal films that I have ever watched, yet it did not employ a single cheap tactic in its demonstration of the sheer (literal) blood, sweat and tears that musicians - and artists more…
