  • The Death of Stalin

    The Death of Stalin

    ★★

This movie take place in Moscow in 1953. Stalin has been in power for about thirty years. It is a satire based on his death and the power struggle of his cabinet members to take his place. The movie stars Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale and Jeffrey Tambor. I think the movie would have been better served as a Historical Drama rather than a Comedy. This was a terrible time for the Russian people. People were indiscriminately being executed, hungry and hated their government. It is nothing that should be made light of and yet this movie tried and with me at least failed.

This movie was nominated for 1 Oscar. It stars Tony Curtis, Yul Brynner and Christine Kaufman. The movie takes place in the Early 1500's in the Ukraine The Cossack's are allied with Poland against the Turks, Poland desires to subjugate the Cossacks and educate them. It is a story of War, Romance, revenge and betrayal. The action scenes are very good for this time period. The story is interesting. On the whole an above average epic adventure movie.

  • The Hunt for Gollum

    The Hunt for Gollum

    ★★★

This is a short film that fills in a gap in the Lord of the Ring movie. It is not directed by Peter Jackson. Gollum must be found before he leeks the location of the one ring to Sauron. Gandalf gives this task to Aragorn (Strider). This movie closely resembles the characters in the Jackson movie as do the orcs and Gollum. The acting is good for a low budget film. The action scenes are also surprisingly good. Iwould recommend this movie to Tolkien fans only

  • Double Indemnity

    Double Indemnity

    ★★★½

There is no doubt as to who the murder is, as he tells you he did it from the start. He then proceed to tell you the circumstances leading up to the murder, the murder and the aftermath. The movie is more about the interaction between the characters and the planning to make a perfect crime. it is about immoral desire and the consequences derived from it. I rated the movie on the basis of seeing it back in 1944,…
