    A great film with an even more remarkable backstory. All three leads were complete unknowns including John Sweet, an actual US Army sergeant when he was cast by Powell and Pressburger as Sgt. Bob Johnson in his first and only acting role. Once the film was released in 1944, Sweet donated his entire $2000 salary to the NAACP.
