It’s a cool little gimmicky plot but it only lasts 30 minutes. After that it wastes its welcome and just goes through the motion. Entertains but not much else and barely does so.
I saw this one when I was a kid and dismissed it. Due to the recent events, it kept coming back to my mind but I couldn’t remember much. Well, it seems like it was made yesterday. It’s a great cop thriller taking place in the midst of the Rodney King riots, mirroring everything we’re getting through today.
This movie is love in a bottle and indubitably Tarantino’s less compromised work to date. With nothing to prove, the guy just handed the audience his greatest fantasy and a movie lover’s wet dream. Who cares about accuracy? Who cares about reality? A vision is there, it is compelling and it made me so happy throughout. So glad I had the honor of seeing it on a big screen with an audience.
This is the story of a man who was either pushed off the edge or simply went to an extreme, a very personal story. But it is also about the way masses, and overall society takes advantage of another's plight to justify their own frustrations and actions, politicizing this very intimate ordeal.
Let's not forget we are witnessing a villain, and whether or not he has the motives to do what he does, it's not up to us to decide,…
