    First thing's first: God bless the Italian people and their apparent obsession with shameless sex, splatter, and malformed maggot-housing mud monsters.

    Secondly: Have you seen Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2? Well, the director of Burial Ground sure has!     For some reason I was under the impression that Castle Freak was going to be a campy, humorously absurd experience. That notion was dispelled very quickly.

    Castle Freak is admittedly at times a little absurd, but never humorously so. That's especially surprising considering the movies Stuart Gordon is known for... This is closer in tone to something like The Witch than it is Re-Animator.
