Joe’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’m so tired of the label “exploitation” in cinema. Why is a movie lesser because it shows us what we most want to see? SALON KITTY conveys the horror of the Nazis more effectively than most prestige dramas precisely because it’s an “exploitation” film. The moral queasiness we see in the story and feel when watching it is perfectly appropriate to the subject.
And while I’m not the authority on this, I didn’t find it misogynistic. Men’s bodies are ogled as much as women’s (yay!) and the main female characters have agency and intelligence.
Did I mention the nudity? My god, so many dicks.
