Watched it in the 79th Venice Film Festival and I was blown away! Mesmerizing cinematography, with precise directing and spot-on dialouges about Schopenauer, Mahler or Glenn Gould, it doesn’t matter. What matters is what they have to say about music, about certain mindsets. And Cate Blanchett gives her life’s best performance. I’d be amazed if she didn’t win an Oscar for this! As a person learning conducting, music theory and etc I can tell you: The monolouges about music and conducting have zero bullshit. Zero.
