    Stan & Ollie

    ★★★

Somewhat predictably, my STAN & OLLIE thoughts settle on the women: 1) Nina Arianda’s just gonna keep on stealing scenes anyway, so you might as well cast her in everything, and 2) Has Shirley Henderson ever been in a Coens film? Because she’d rule in one. (The movie itself is decently affecting without being all that gripping.)

    Three Identical Strangers

    ★★★½

A fascinating, and sometimes sad, story told without much in the way of ambition, which turns out to be mostly fine.

Somehow lived up to my expectations, even while inhabiting a story that (whether or not you've seen any of the pervious versions of this film) is incredibly familiar. Widows

    ★★★★½

    [Ecstatic screaming]

Tense, familial, political, Colin Farrell’s Chick-AAA-go accent, Daniel Kaluuya’s dead-eyed psycho, Elizabeth Debicki’s everything, Cynthia Errivo’s fanfare entrance, Steve McQueen and Sean Bobbitt’s framing, and after all that, it still fully belongs to Viola Davis. See this with a crowd.
