Still looks immaculate. Tony Scott. It’s the one I’m most familiar with. Taped it off ITV back in the day. Got watched a lot!

  • Prey

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

That was proper good.. . Feels like a Dark Horse Comics idea fleshed out. Maybe more a DHP short story.
Predator was mimicking Axe & Tomahawk melee combat. Fight like your prey, which I’m sure is a predator thing. I get the idea that Predator was adolescent. More when he’s playing with game (Wolf, bear.) Getting injured.

Flintlock .. Doesn’t really make any sense. Well outside essentially a elder must retrieve that later on. Meaning that Comanche Tribe get they asses handed to them when whatevers on the ship comes back.

There’s a Shoshoni language dub version on here as well.

  • Midsommar

    Oh aye.

  • Spider-Man: Homecoming

    Spider-Man: Homecoming

This has gone up in my estimation. Even the music worked better. It’s just that Spiderman kicking about Queens. Just feels like tactile New York. No Downtown high rise and tourist NYC landmarks just Staten Island Ferry and Corner shop front ATM booths.

  • Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps

Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps

    ★★★½

Here for the Jaw.Road Eyes.. Poppin’ off and fking about back stage to Cinnamon Girl & Like a Hurricane, best scene dock job in the world.

Lucasfilm slammed Neil Young. C&D opportunity never sleeps.

  • The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

    Ford Perfect.

This looks astonishing.. It’s Terry Gilliam making Fifth Element. Some of it is jaw dropping to look at.. beautiful. This was made with a 3rd of the budget of Revenge of the Sith, and in 2022 it possibly looks like a Blackpool toy filmed at 1080i in comparison to this at it’s best.

  • The Batman

  • Empire of the Sun

I had Hershey bar in the mid 90’s while in London. It was rot.

Havn’t seen this since my parents rented it one weekend in 1988. Think it just had as much of profound effect on me as watching Jaws for the first time two years later.

  • Blue Thunder

Remember putting this into a video recorder at a mates house when his parents where out. My memories of being around there and playing scrolling beat em ups on Spectrum, his dad was super sensitive to swearing. I mean light stuff! If he heard a ‘bloody he’l’.. He’d come barrelling into the room and kick off, but we could watch any of the 18 or 15 movies, rental tapes in the house.
Arial stuff I this movie is batshit. Thriller…

  • Spider-Man

    Spider-Man

    ★★★½

Never actually seen a Raimi Spiderman film. Not sure what was going on in 2002. I had limited money and I chose Attack of the Clones three weeks later. Maybe bounced off the marketing campaign. Then a few sequels came out and you never catch up. Also I always felt Dark Man was Raimi’s definitive take on the comic book. When I did see clips of this film it didn’t look like the same director that made Evil Dead 2…

  • High-Rise

    High-Rise

    ★★★½

The compression of ideas in these two hours. Wheatley never hit this high before. It’s that heavy mix of Gilliam’s Brazil Brutal Concrete and the interiors of those early Cronenberg films, confined use of modernist Canadian apartment blocks. The montages of everything spilling over into chaos, do turn on the film at one point. Could possibly lose 20mins. But it makes up for it with that conclusion not the building. The Thatcher / Fall epilogue. Gonna watch this again before the months out.
