  • The Predator

    The Predator

Unbashful straight to video kill count. This film goes hard for a 15. You can see a conscious effort by Black to try and bring that primal danger back to this antagonist. Just cutting throu rows of G-Men like butter. That's been lost over 30 years of 16 flavours of Todd McFarlane action figures and piss weak cash-in cross overs.
Shane Black's seasonal holidays (different one this time) and attack chopper flood lights approaching mobile homes. in full effect. Some…

  • Spider-Man: Homecoming

    Spider-Man: Homecoming

This is the 1st Spiderman movie I’ve actually ever watched. So I guess maybe this doesn’t feel as rung out and tired a format to me. But also feels lil’ muted like it wants to kick out a bit more from the Marvel confines and be like Guardians. It misses a charm Edgar White brought to Baby Driver in the same summer a heart behind that soundtrack.

Pretty good how this has been brought down to lower levels outside of…

  • Doctor Strange

    Doctor Strange

Dr Strangeman Begins. I didn't read no internet twerp think piece... It's as plain as the nose on yer face.

They used Interstellar Overdrive by The Pink Floyd at the wrong part of the film. Arsehole docter in a sports car as pose to reality crumbling and falling, folding into cardboard boxes... .

  • Ant-Man

Kinda expected this to be better..

  • Ant-Man and the Wasp

    Ant-Man and the Wasp

This isn’t Innerspace. It desperately wants to be.. When yer man says ‘Pep-Pep’ and then Tim Heidecker turned up.. made me lose my place. Some nice ideas. I’m kinda intrigued about seeing the first one now thou.

  • Solo: A Star Wars Story

    Solo: A Star Wars Story

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Always had my doubts about this one, more than Rogue One. Zapata Western! It’s all there.. It’s Giu La Testa! Outlaws lifting gold in the middle of the chaos of a revolution and civil war. The village ravaged by bandits.

Opening on Corellia took me straight back to shipyard clutter of Dark Empire in the 90s. Car chase was so powerslide F-Zero! The EU references worked better in this. Off hand conversations about Woody Harrelson pushing a background Mos Espa…

  • Lethal Weapon 4

    Lethal Weapon 4

So here we are. Never watched this at the time. Maybe it felt little out of time. Late 90s had moved on so fast. Rush Hour had taken the limelight. This feels like a crew leaving party. It’s ok, great opening but it struggles to come up with something new in the set pieces. Loses the momentum in too many characters. But the heart is still there.

  • Lethal Weapon 3

    Lethal Weapon 3

It’s the 15 cert family viewing Lethal Weapon. The one I have a soft spot for. The grittiness has gone and all possible remnants of Shane Black. But it’s replaced by a polish of something slick and shiny. It’s Donner’s prettiest LW film. Lots of lens splits and slow-mo aerial shots. Still seems to have something to say about the duo with threat of retirement. The Villain is still silly and undercooked but real villain is the cop killer ammo.
