  • RoboCop

35th Anni Print only released on Cinemas. Like Lynch’s Dune 8 months ago, probably won’t have the opportunity on a general release again.

All the POV stuff when the lights go out for Murphy, we are left in the void and they boot Robo are transformed on a cinema screen. Also this print really brings out Robo’s shifting colour paint work. This effect was always more obvious in photography on Robocop 2.

That’s the stuff I’m here for… familiar films made new.

  • Bonnie and Clyde

    Bonnie and Clyde

    That ending lit a match.

  • Throne of Blood

    Throne of Blood

This came up being projected at the city arts centre 3 days ago. After a 12hr shift.. I had to go.. Still contains my favourite Kurosawa scene.. a chiller

  • Dune

This was shown for one weekend in UK cinemas. Couldn’t miss the opportunity. Possibly never be a climate when this gets a general release again.

1984’ D U N E made new again. This was on par with T-2 Judgement Day in 2017 as an experience. Cinema is the only place I can go with these films that I tanned at home in my youth on video.

  • Point Break

    Point Break

‘𝑅𝑜𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃 𝑅𝑜𝓁𝓁’  The handheld back-alley chase. The film that I realised what a director does.

This was a Summers End double along with Jaws.

  • Jaws

It’s the end of summer… it’s been a while. No other film sums it up to me in vibe.

  • Logan Lucky

    Logan Lucky

Why nobody tell me Logan Lucky is set around Nascar. It's like a slight Coen Brothers film, with it's Appalachian dialogue detail. The 'that new Furious Fast film' bit was it's 'It's got Yodas n shit on em' from Raising Arizona. Made me snort.

On the stock cars.. I wanna go. I know it's surface here. Just like the sound of the V8s rattling around the concrete stands on film. How the soundtrack fell away on the credits to the sound of it. The little bit about people having apartments overlooking the track... I was hitting the rewind.

    Logan Lucky Liker.

It’s difficult to comprehend now, how much this film blew the top off my head off as a teenager. I drank up the whole aesthetic,…

  • Mad Max: Fury Road

    Mad Max: Fury Road

George Miller disappeared into the Namibi Desert in 2012. Came out a whole month over deadline from location filming with something very special.

Last time watched Fury Road was possibly the Black and Chrome print from 2017.

Always have a lot to say about the Vuvalini Sisters. It’s not just feminism thing it’s their age. Something that’s not represented in a action film setting in the mid 2010s, and should be something to aspire to, celebrated. Just generally about the…

Alice & Uncas had me a mess, like it always does. Nobody puts music to film like him. This was the first I’d read about the research and details Mann put into his films. Even here Mann is painting Wes Studi’s Magua, being momentarily shook by Alice’s choice. Like the Tooth Fairy’s dilemmas in his previous film, Manhunter. This detail is what makes it truly great.

People forget how huge Mohicans was in 92’ It was…
