On a rewatch the three things that stand out are its perfect final five minutes, the beautiful cinematography from Robert Richardson, and one of the great DiCaprio and Pitt performances we've seen yet.

And it very much reminded me of Boogie Nights both in its themes and as it gives you such a giddy and exciting hit of moviemaking. The parallels between them become all the more apparent when you know how Burt Reynolds was originally slated to appear in the film, but died shortly before his filming began. I won't reveal who replaces him as it wasn't revealed in the marketing, but I was very happy with who they chose.

Some may be a little taken aback when some of the cast members more fit into the "extended cameos" category, but hell, each one of them makes an impression (particularly Dakota Fanning, Margaret Qualley, the new Elvis, and the "that was the best acting I've ever seen" little girl from the trailer).
