A film that’s entirely suffocating in its loneliness.
Somehow Ming-Liang was able to create such an expressive film with such little dialogue. I think there is under 100 lines in it.
Just a entrapping experience that subjects you to barren loneliness and hornyness.
A Disney ride/ museum exhibit told in the form of a mythical fairytale. And its really fun.
It’s fascinating to watch a spectacle film from 70 years ago because the standards are just completely different. But the stop motion aesthetic has always been one of my favorites so this is just a treat to watch.
Yes it has no real plot or great characters but it’s fine enough to allow you to take in the set design and world.
