John Kelly’s review published on Letterboxd:
I watched this on a plane, after missing a connection and wasting an entire day re-routing myself to try and get home. I was extremely tired and extremely emotional. And while I enjoyed the film a lot, it didn't hit me as hard, emotionally speaking, as I would have expected given these circumstances (I mean, I once watched the Jackie Chan remake of The Karate Kid on a transatlantic flight and I bawled my eyes out).
But at the same time, I had no existing relationship to either the book or to any of the previous versions of the film and I also didn't grow up in a family of tooth-achingly precocious sisters, so maybe this just wasn't hitting my weak spots?
