John Kelly’s review published on Letterboxd:
Immediately after watching this, I remember describing it as "not essential Scorsese". But now, after giving it a few days, I don't know if that's true. The last forty-five minutes of this film are about as wistful and mournful as anything I've seen this year. Made heavier by the weights of Goodfellas and Casino pressing down on them.
No other director (and actors) could have made this film. And they all come with the age, and the baggage, to turn it from a from a run-of-the-mill gangster film into an emotional gut-punch.
