I didn't really enjoy this as much as I found it clever and thematically interesting.
So works...also so doesn't. Like many people point out, the 1st half is pretty good- Dickensian without too much sap. The Dev Patel stuff is less good and feels a lot like every "man-with-obsession-loses-love" movie you've ever seen in your life, which is a shame because Patel is so, so good (as are Kidman and Wenham).

The action was definitely kicked up a notch from the 1st one both in terms of frequency and choreography. It was pretty satisfying. There is also much more character stuff, a lot of which is also quite satisfying, but some of which got away from Whedon and co. just a little bit (Hulk in particular).
