Dawson Joyce’s review published on Letterboxd:
Producer Denzel Washington's quest in adapting renowned playwright August Wilson's Pittsburgh Cycle to film continues following the superb track led forth by Fences with Netflix's Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, a gorgeously shot, energetically directed, phenomenally paced drama featuring some of the finest and most poignant dialogue of any film this year and career-best work from Viola Davis and the late great Chadwick Boseman, whose devastating monologue alone should guarantee him a Best Actor Oscar nomination.
