John V.’s review published on Letterboxd:
wish it was actually about Hampton and not just a procedural about evil. surface level politics & no investigation into what the Panthers or Hampton believed apart from "capitalism bad"
wish it was a piece that could be used as inspiration for future orgs rather than another tragedy of why rising up can go wrong. happy they portrayed the FBI as demonic but not so happy that they did a lot of leg work to make you sympathize with O'Neal.
(also i should just note which was not included in the film that it was "human rights org" Amnesty International that informed the FBI of weapons inside Fred Hampton's apartment. which is why the FBI then asked for blueprints from O'Neal.)
